South Korean President Park Geun-hye urged President Obama Friday to cooperate more with China on a wide range of issues, a call that Mr. Obama said he welcomes.

“We want South Korea to have a strong relationship with China, just as we want to have a strong relationship with China,” Mr. Obama said at a news conference. “There’s no contradiction between the Republic of Korea having a good relationship with us… and having a good relationship with China.”

Ms. Park said several times during the press conference that China’s cooperation is needed with the U.S. on issues such as nuclear talks with North Korea to economic development. She said her government wants to “fully utilize” China’s influence in regional issues.
