Businessman Donald Trump said the campaign finance system in the U.S. is a “horror show” and that many of his opponents in the 2016 presidential race are likely violating laws that prevent them from coordinating with super PACs.

Mr. Trump said there “absolutely” needs to be campaign finance reform.

“It is such a disaster out there — it’s a horror show going on with campaign finance,” he said in an interview with Bloomberg TV.

“This whole thing with these PACs — these PACs are the biggest disgusting joke you’ve ever seen,” Mr. Trump said. “And first of all, the PACs are all controlling the candidates. And when they say the candidate doesn’t speak to the PAC and they’re not allowed to legally, I guarantee you these candidates, I would say every single one of [them] is speaking to their PAC, and they’re not allowed to legally.”

Super PACs can raise and spend unlimited amounts of money, but they are not allowed to coordinate with candidates or campaigns.

Mr. Trump said he’s turned down “so many” millions of dollars but that he does accept small contributions.

“Now mine is very simple — I pay my own money, OK? I pay my own money,” he said. “But it’s a disgrace. I mean, it’s a disgrace.”
