GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka is hitting the campaign trail on her father’s behalf, looking to reassure the public that her dad is no misogynist.
“He’d be amazing for women in the country. He would be incredible for women in the country,” Ms. Trump said in an interview with CNN’s Poppy Harlow, when questioned what her dad would do for women if elected president.
Mr. Trump has received some negative press for comments he’s made about women, both before and during his presidential campaign.
Fox News’ Megyn Kelly lobbed some tough questions at Mr. Trump during the August GOP presidential debate, pushing him on some of his past statments about women.
Mr. Trump took offense to Ms. Kelly’s questions, later saying “You could see blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of wherever.”
Mr. Trump’s comments about Ms. Kelly drew outrage, getting him disinvited from the RedState Gathering where he had been scheduled to give the keynote speech.
Later comments about Mrs. Fiorina’s appearance drew further criticism. “Look at that face!” Mr. Trump said in a September Rolling Stone interview, referring to Mrs. Fiorina’s face. “Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president?” He later apologized for his comments, claiming he was referring to her persona, not her looks.
Ms. Trump’s Wednesday interview is just the beginning of her work campaigning for her father, but she told CNN she would not be elaborating on his platform, but she would be sharing anecdotes about what it was like to be parented by the billionaire businessmen.
“He’s loving and supporting. He’s pushed me, he’s corrected me, he’s disciplined me,” she said, according to CNN. “As a print now myself, I appreciate how hard that is, more than ever before.”
