Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has retained a lead on the rest of the 2016 GOP field in New Hampshire, according to a poll out Wednesday that also showed Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie gain the most support since September.
Voters also said Mr. Rubio, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and Mr. Christie did the best job at last week’s GOP presidential debate in Colorado and that former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky did the worst job.
Including leaners, Mr. Trump had the support of 18 percent of likely primary voters in the WBUR poll, followed by retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson at 16 percent, Mr. Rubio at 11 percent, and Ohio Gov. John Kasich at 10 percent.
Mr. Christie was next at 8 percent, followed by Mr. Bush 7 percent and former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina and Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas at 6 percent apiece.
Mr. Rubio picked up the most support from a WBUR poll in September, when he was at 2 percent, while Mr. Christie picked up 6 points of support, also improving from 2 percent.
Mr. Trump had been at 22 percent, followed by Mr. Carson at 18 percent and Mrs. Fiorina — who dropped 5 points — at 11 percent.
In the poll released Wednesday, 27 percent said Mr. Rubio did the best job in the debate - tops in the field. He was followed by Mr. Cruz at 20 percent and Mr. Christie at 13 percent.
Thirty-six percent, meanwhile, said Mr. Bush did the worst job in the debate, which led the field on that question.Mr. Paul was second at 11 percent, and Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Mr. Trump were tied at 9 percent apiece.
