Sen. John McCain of Arizona said Monday that President Obama still does not have an overall strategy to combat the Islamic State terrorist group in the Middle East, likening the fight against the group to “putting Band-aids on bleeding areas.”
“It’s, very unfortunately, not a lot of progress,” Mr. McCain said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” speaking from Erbil, Iraq. “We will see, probably, the re-taking of Ramadi .. .but there’s other indications that this is a very long, hard struggle and, the president of the United States still does not have an overall strategy for the region.”
“This is putting Band-aids on bleeding areas,” he said. “There’s no overall strategy, and ISIS continues to metastasize … so we’re in for a long, hard struggle and we still haven’t got a strategy to handle ISIS in the region.”
