ASHBURN — The Washington Redskins placed Chris Culliver on injured reserve after the cornerback tore his ACL and MCL in his right knee during Thursday’s practice.
Culliver is the 10th Redskins player to be placed on injured reserve this season.
“He’s a good player for us and obviously you hate to lose good players,” coach Jay Gruden said. “Unfortunately it happened. It was just a fluke deal. He went up for a ball and landed on it and tore it. These other guys have to step up.”
Cornerbacks Bashaud Breeland and Deshazor Everett, and inside linebacker Keenan Robinson are all questionable for Sunday’s game against the New York Giants. Strong safety Trenton Robinson has been ruled out with a hamstring injury.
Breeland missed Friday’s practice because of an illness. Gruden said the hope is that it is just a 24-hour virus. Everett was limited with a left hamstring injury, but said he felt “pretty confident” running at practice.
Keenan Robinson has been inactive the last two games because of a shoulder injury and was not optimistic about his availability for Sunday.
Left tackle Trent Williams practiced for a second consecutive day. Gruden said he was very optimistic Williams, who bruised his left patella against Carolina, would not be limited by the injury.
“Very high on Trent,” Gruden said. “He had a good day at practice yesterday in his limited work and today he got the majority of the snaps and he looked good. It would have to be a tough injury to keep him out of the game.”
