ASHBURN — Trent Williams did not participate in Wednesday’s practice, but the Washington Redskins’ left tackle said he will “definitely” be able to play on Sunday against the New York Giants.
Williams bruised the patella tendon in his left knee during the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 44-16 loss to the Carolina Panthers. He limped off the field and was later carted to the locker room, but he returned to the sideline with his knee wrapped and did not re-enter the game.
“If there’s one guy on this team I feel good about playing through an injury, it’d be Trent,” coach Jay Gruden said on Wednesday. “I think if there’s any way, shape or form he’ll go. Obviously, we want to make sure he’s able to play at a level he’s used to playing, but if he’s limping around he’s probably better than a lot of left tackles in the league.”
Cornerback Chris Culliver, strong safety Trenton Robinson, cornerback Deshazor Everett and defensive end Jason Hatcher also missed practice.
Culliver injured one of his shoulders in Sunday’s game and had an MRI exam on Wednesday. Robinson and Everett were out with unspecified hamstring injuries, but did conditioning drills off to the side.
Both free safety Dashon Goldson and inside linebacker Keenan Robinson were limited. Goldson is dealing with knee, hamstring and wrist injuries and Robinson a shoulder injury.
Running back Alfred Morris fully participated in practice. He aggravated a rib injury in Sunday’s game and only played three snaps before he left the game. Gruden said it was just a bruise.
“He felt a lot of pain there on Sunday,” Gruden said. “A lot of it subsided, he got a lot of treatment and he feels better today. No contact today, so he was able to do some things.”
