A flash mob of teenagers stole $13,000 worth of items from a Diesel store in D.C.’s upscale Georgetown district Tuesday night, according to police.
More than 20 people stormed the designer clothing store in the 3000 block of M Street NW and began grabbing items off the racks, police said, The Washington Post reported.
Police described the suspects only as juveniles.
The robbery comes after retailers in Georgetown stopped using an app to communicate with each other and police about shoppers they deemed suspicious.
The service, called “Operation GroupMe,” was meant as a tool to try to reduce shoplifting in the area, but there were concerns that it was being used to racially profile people, The Post reported.
