Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump has expanded his lead over No. 2 Ben Carson in a new national poll on the 2016 GOP field.
Mr. Trump was at 28 percent in the Fox News poll released Sunday, followed by Mr. Carson at 18 percent and Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida at 14 percent apiece.
Mr. Trump had been at 26 percent in a Fox survey taken in early November, followed by Mr. Carson at 23 percent, and Mr. Cruz and Mr. Rubio at 11 percent apiece.
In the new poll, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush was in fifth at 5 percent, followed by former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie at 3 percent each.
On the Democratic side, former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is retaining a solid lead, holding a 55 percent to 32 percent advantage over Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont.
But Mrs. Clinton trailed Mr. Christie, Mr. Cruz, Mr. Trump, Mr. Carson, Mr. Bush and Mr. Rubio by between 3 and 8 points in head-to-head match-ups, and was tied with Mrs. Fiorina at 42 percent apiece.
And among Mr. Carson, Mr. Rubio, Mr. Bush, Mr. Cruz, Mrs. Fiorina, Mr. Trump and Mrs. Clinton, voters rated the former secretary of state the least honest and trustworthy.
Fifty-eight percent said they don’t think Mrs. Clinton is honest and trustworthy, compared to 38 percent who said she is.
Mr. Carson had the best rating on that front; 53 percent said he is honest and trustworthy, and 34 percent said he is not.
