Washington Redskins Running back Silas Redd has been suspended for four games without pay for a violation of the league’s substance-abuse policy, it was announced Wednesday.
Redd, who tore the ACL and MCL in his right knee during the preseason, is out for the year. His suspension will continue despite his injury; as an injured player, he will be allowed to rehabilitate the knee, but will not be paid.
The Redskins signed Redd as an undrafted free agent out of USC last season, and he made the team, finishing with 75 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries and eight receptions for 107 yards.
He’s the second player to be suspended by the Redskins this week. The league announced on Monday that outside linebacker Junior Galette, also out for the season after tearing his left Achilles’ tendon during the preseason, was suspended for two games for a violation of the player conduct policy.
