ASHBURN — Quarterback Kirk Cousins was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season following his performance in the Washington Redskins’ 47-14 win against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
Cousins was 20-for-25 with 324 yards and four touchdowns for a perfect 158.3 passer rating.
The fourth-year quarterback also received the honor after guiding the Redskins to a 31-30 comeback win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after Washington fell behind, 24-0. It was the largest come-from-behind win in franchise history.
Only four other Redskins players — Art Monk (1991), Brad Johnson (1999), Santana Moss (2005) and Robert Griffin III (2012) — have earned the honor twice in a single season since the award was instituted in 1984.
The Redskins have won their last four home games since losing the season opener against Miami. In those four games, Cousins has completed 107 of 138 passes, or 77.5 percent, for 1,134 yards with nine touchdowns and zero interceptions.
