Actor George Clooney, who once called Hillary Clinton “the most polarizing figure in American politics,” said Friday that he will help the 2016 Democratic candidate get elected in any way he can.

When asked by Fusion’s Jorge Ramos if he would support the former Secretary of State in the 2016 election, Mr. Clooney said, “Sure, whatever she wants, whatever way I can help,” Mediaite reported Friday.

Mr. Clooney called Mrs. Clinton a “tremendous candidate” and said he would be “very happy” if she were president.”

When asked about his previous criticism of Mrs. Clinton in 2008, Mr. Clooney stood by his comments saying she was a polarizing figure at the time and cited the Benghazi “scandal” as an example of her divisive politics. But he added that Benghazi was not a “great scandal.”

Mr. Clooney said that he thinks Mrs. Clinton is “ready to be president,” Mediaite reported.

Mr. Clooney has been a major celebrity backer for Democratic candidates and helped raise $10 million for President Obama’s 2012 campaign.
