OPINION:
Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, who on Monday announced her campaign for the presidency, was ribbed online for failing to buy the domain CarlyFiorina.org. Her answer: She bought Seth Myers.org.
The candidate appeared Tuesday night on NBC’s “The Late Show with Seth Meyers,” and let the host know about her Internet savvy.
“Do you know who owns SethMeyers.org?” she asked Meyers. “I certainly have no idea,” the host said. “I do. I just bought it in the green room actually. So you better be really nice to me tonight.”
The audience laughed, and Myers said, “You’ve got that kind of scratch?” Fiorina deadpanned: “Actually, it was really cheap, Seth, I hate to tell you.” The crowded “oooohed” loudly over the burn.
Fiorina originally made SethMeyers.org redirect to her campaign’s website, but by Wednesday the site browsers said they “can’t find the server at www.sethmyers.org.”
The CarlyFiorina.org features 30,000 frowny face emojis like :( and the owner wrote: “Carly Fiorina failed to register this domain. So I’m using it to tell you how many people she laid off at Hewlett-Packard.”
That site was, not suprisingly, traced back to a “an employee at the Service Employees International Union, which regularly donates to the Democratic Party,” The Hill reported.
