Ora Freeman has served as the caregiver for her husband, Harold Freeman, Jr. (Butch), for more than ten years. In Mosul, Iraq, Harold was injured by an explosion that left him with shrapnel in his leg and pelvis, back injuries, PTSD and TBI. Ora provides emotional support and helps him prioritize his day and keep track of tasks. Because of his injury, Harold has lost the feeling of being hungry, so Ora reminds him throughout the day to eat. She also oversees his doctors’ appointments and their finances as he struggles with the concepts of time and money.

Through the journey, Ora has realized that military service and veterans’ injuries affect the whole family and can completely change your life and how you think about and handle situations. She now helps others understand and cope with life after military service and injury.
