The NBA recently began releasing “two-minute reports” after close games. They look at the “last two minutes of games which were within five points at the two-minute mark (and during overtime, where applicable). The plays assessed include all calls (whistles) and notable non-calls.”

Game 1 between the Wizards and Atlanta Hawks qualified, and the league found a mistake. The NBA said that Wizards center Marcin Gortat should have been called for an offensive foul with 16.2 seconds to play. Gortat, the league determined after review, pushed Hawks center Al Horford in the back, and “dislodges” Horford from his position.

If Gortat’s basket was eliminated, the Wizards would still be in front by two possessions, leading by a score of 100-96, with 14.6 seconds to play. The won Game 1, 104-98.
