Into its seventh year since being introduced, the 2015 Hyundai Genesis is a high-end luxury option that won’t break the bank either. However, the Hyundai folks also decided to offer buyers a redesign this year meaning a total redesign with all the missing elements from years past added. That’s right, with the new interior and changes the Hyundai Genesis has now gone from good to even better in the luxury sedan market with a strong warranty and great safety scores as well.

The competition in this field includes the Cadillac CTS, Audi A6, Lexus GS-350 and the BMW 5 Series or Mercedes-Benz E-Class, but the price for the latter two well exceed the cost of the Genesis even if the Genesis does meet all the necessary luxury requirements.

The 2015 Hyundai Genesis is a full-size, luxury sedan and you can opt for the 3.8 with a V6 engine or the 5.0 with a V8 engine. There is also the coupe as well.

For the Genesis 3.8, you get basic 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, rearview camera and auto-dimming rearview mirror and heated mirrors as well as automatic wipers and climate control with a keyless ignition and entry and heated front seats with leather upholstery, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel and a touchscreen interface with the navigation system. Technology features include Bluetooth phone and audio connect as well as the Hyundai Blue Link emergency system and seven speakers with all the audio additions needed and a USB/iPod interface too.

There are three additional packages you can add on to the 3.8, either the Signature with a panoramic roof, HID headlights, auto-dimming exterior mirrors, air-conditioned front seats, high beam headlights, power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel and a power rear sunshade.

The tech package builds on the Signature package and will further give you adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, upgraded leather upholstery and an even better seven-inch display. From there, the Ultimate package builds on these two packages with the addition of a power trunk lid, upgraded navigation system with center console controller and matte-finish wood and aluminum trim with a carbon dioxide sensor.

As a lone option, you can add all-wheel drive to any configuration of the Genesis 3.8 as well as headlight washers, heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel.

For the Genesis 5.0, this is a higher end version and you get as standard the Signature and Technology goodies standard as well as 19-inch alloy wheels, LED fog lamps, illuminated door plates and the wood and aluminum trim. You can also add the Ultimate package, which on the 5.0 will also include a suspension adjustment.

Under the hood, the Genesis 3.8 has the 3.8-liter V6 engine that will give you plenty of horsepower at 311 with 293 pound-feet of torque and an eight-speed automatic transmission with rear-wheel drive. You can opt for all-wheel drive on this trim. For the 5.0, you get 420 horsepower with the V8 engine and 383 pound-feet of torque. The 5.0 is only available in rear-wheel drive with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Safety on the 2015 Hyundai Genesis includes antilock brakes, traction and stability control, active front head restraints, driver’s knee, front and rear side and full-length side curtain airbags and the Blue Link emergency offering automatic crash notification, an SOS button, remote door unlocking and start and in some cases the blind-spot detection and rear cross-traffic alert. There is also a package with the lane-departure warning and a lane-keeping assist system, front and rear parking sensors and an automatic emergency braking system if needed to avoid a collision.

For the new 2015 Hyundai Genesis redesign, the update shines with a new-style center stack and console configuration as well as an easier to navigate, larger nav system and more of a curve to the overall dash design. The buttons and knobs are still easy to use and figure out and notice that even the steering wheel got a face lift for added comfort. There is also more legroom in the back seats and the space in the trunk is 15.3 cubic feet.

Taking her out for a spin and while it is not a sports sedan you will still find plenty of speed and agility behind the wheel. It takes the curves just right with no noise and easy acceleration as needed. Whichever trim you choose, the 2015 Hyundai Genesis is a luxury sedan with a reasonable price tag that means you can’t go wrong.
