Socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders, running for the Democratic presidential nomination, wrote an essay for an alternative newspaper in which he said women fantasize “about being raped by 3 men simultaneously.”

The essay, written when Sanders was 31, appeared in the February 1972. Titled “Man — And Woman,” was published in the Vermont Freeman.

“A man goes home and masturbates his typical fantasy,” wrote Sanders. “A woman on her knees. A woman tied up. A woman abused. A woman enjoys intercourse with her man — as she fantasizes about being raped by 3 men simultaneously.

“The man and woman get dressed up on Sunday — and go to Church, or maybe to their ’revolutionary’ political meeting.”

The essay was uncovered by Mother Jones, a progressive magazine that is fully backing Hillary Clinton. But in a lengthy article about Sanders, there was no mention of the essay, just a reprint of it from the newspaper.

Asked about the essay, Sanders spokesman said the essay was “a dumb attempt at dark satire.”
