Chris Pratt issued a lengthy advanced apology on Facebook on Friday ahead of any offensive comments he might make while promoting the upcoming film “Jurassic World.”
“I want to make a heartfelt apology for whatever it is I end up accidentally saying during the forthcoming #JurassicWorld press tour,” Mr. Pratt wrote on Facebook. “I hope you understand it was never my intention to offend anyone and I am truly sorry. I swear. I’m the nicest guy in the world. And I fully regret what I (accidentally will have) said in (the upcoming foreign and domestic) interview(s).”
The “Parks and Recreation” and “Guardians of the Galaxy” actor’s comical post is possibly meant as a reference to social media outrage surrounding comments made by “Avengers” actors Jeremy Renner and Chris Evans. The Marvel action stars were accused of making “tasteless” jokes about a female “Avengers” character in April.
Mr. Renner and Mr. Evans have both apologized for jokingly calling “Black Widow” a “slut” in an interview.
In a statement provided to Entertainment Weekly Mr. Renner said he was “sorry that this tasteless joke about a fictional character offended anyone. It was not meant to be serious in any way. Just poking fun during an exhausting and tedious press tour.”
Mr. Pratt wrote in his Facebook apology that any offensive acts or comments made will likely be the result of exhaustion from the grueling press tour.
“I am not in the business of making excuses. I am just dumb. Plain and simple. I try. I REALLY try! When I do (potentially) commit the offensive act for which I am now (pre) apologizing you must understand I (will likely have been) tired and exhausted when I (potentially) said that thing I (will have had) said that (will have had) crossed the line,” Mr. Pratt wrote.
The Facebook post has garnered over 90,000 likes and over 7,000 shares.
