New York City lawyers have ordered Rev. Al Sharpton’s daughter Dominique not to delete Instagram photos of her recent hiking trip in Indonesia. Ms. Sharpton has filed a $5 million lawsuit against the city for “permanent” injuries she claims are attributable to falling on an uneven sidewalk.

The city Law Department sent Ms. Sharpton a letter telling her to preserve all of the evidence posted on her social-media accounts, the New York Post reported Saturday.

Ms. Sharpton, 28, filed a lawsuit suing the city for $5 million on May 7 claiming that she will never fully recover from a sprained ankle she suffered when she tripped on an uneven Soho street on October 2.

She claimed the fall left her with “internal and external injuries to the whole body, lower and upper limbs, the full extent of which are unknown, permanent pain and mental anguish.”

Ms. Sharpton, who works for her father’s National Action Network, claimed in court documents that she “still suffers and will continue to suffer for some time physical pain and bodily injuries,” the newspaper reported.

A week after filing the suit, Ms. Sharpton posted photos oh her hiking a mountain in Indonesia with a friend, and wrote “we hiked UP the mountain, over the clouds… into the SUNRISE.”

The city is now planning to use Ms. Sharpton’s photos to refute her case and has instructed her not to touch her “cameras (digital and non-digital) e-mails, text messages, cellular phones, tablets and any other device,” the newspaper reported.

Ms. Sharpton’s lawyer, John Elefterakis, said she “has been forthcoming and transparent throughout this case with regard to her capabilities despite her pain. Ms. Sharpton does not require a letter to instruct her to save pictures which she has freely made available to the public.”
