The “Right Side Forum,” an hour-long conservative live news and talk show hosted by columnist Armstrong Williams, will look at “Rebuilding and Business: The challenges business leaders face in ’blighted’ communities” along with lingering local outrage over a number of distressing events.
Mr. William’s guests are Edwin Avent, Baltimore-based entrepreneur and co-founder of Black Professional Men, Inc.; J. Wyndal Gordon, Baltimore’s “Warrior Lawyer” and K. Marques Mullings, executive vice-president, Howard Stirk Holdings.
The group will discuss challenges businesses and entrepreneurs face when establishing themselves in communities often challenged by crime, building a workforce with local talent, low-income residents in the customer base, and a possible lack of infrastructure to support growth of the enterprise, Mr. Williams said. And their questions: What should be expected of these businesses and entrepreneurs? What should be expected of the community and civic leaders?
There will also be a special segment where Mr. Williams shares thoughts about the unrest sparked by the death of Freddie Gray while in police custody, versus the relative silence at the more than 30 deaths of young African Americans in Baltimore since then. Where is the outrage, he asks?
“I want to continue asking the question I raised last week: Are Baltimore’s problems really about race, or a failure in leadership? This time I want to take a closer look at business leaders in Baltimore. Are they doing enough? What prescription would they write for what ails Baltimore, and similar struggling areas around America. You won’t want to miss this chance to hear from some of today’s most exciting and community-oriented business leaders,” Mr. Williams said.
The show, which debuted in January, airs live on Saturday mornings at 10:30 a.m. on News Channel 8 in the Washington, D.C., area, and repeats again at 6:30 p.m.
