School is not quite out for most children in elementary school, but a family friendly media organization has released a list of 50 of the best movies children should see by age 12.

These “must-see movies” — which include classical musicals, princess tales, superhero adventures and holiday favorites — will appeal to the whole family, Common Sense Media says in a new post.

In addition to being “highly entertaining,” the 50 recommended movies are “packed with positive messages and role models.”

Suggested movies include “The Land Before Time,” “Toy Story, “My Neighbor Totoro” and “Finding Nemo” for the youngest children, and “The Iron Giant,” “Mary Poppins,” “How to Train Your Dragon,” and “Song of the Sea” for children in first and second grades.

Enjoyable films for older children include “Spider-Man,” “It’s a Wonderful Life,” “Spirited Away,” “The Princess Bride,” “Sense and Sensibility” and “Whale Rider,” said Common Sense Media, which posted its full list on its website.
