Police in Greensboro, Georgia, are investigating the death of a black man found hanging from a tree Monday.

Authorities said Roosevelt Champion, 43, was found Monday by a passerby, CNN reported.

Joe Wooten, special agent in charge with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, said that a thorough autopsy will be conducted on the man, adding that there is “nothing overt” that points to foul play.

“The public deserves answers on this, to be honest,” Mr. Wooten said.

The deceased man was recently questioned in the death of another woman, Carol Lewis, 55, CNN reported.

“We’re going to be as transparent as we can. There’s no other way to be,” Mr. Wooten said.
