Police in Lake Mary, Florida, say George Zimmerman was shot in the face Monday afternoon.
FOX 35 in Orlando said police described the shooting as an apparent “road rage incident.”
WFTV reported Zimmerman was shot in the face by another driver.
Lake Mary Police Chief Steve Bracknell told Orlando NBC affiliate WESH that Zimmerman’s apparent gunshot wound was described as minor by responding officers.
“He walked normally into the ambulance, so he wasn’t being helped or nothing,” witness Ricardo Berrare told the news station.
Video from WESH’s news helicopter showed a bullet hole in the passenger window of the vehicle Zimmerman was in, the station reported.
Zimmerman was acquitted in the 2013 shooting death of unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin.
