RICHMOND — Caira Washington scored 24 points to lead No. 21-ranked and top-seeded George Washington into the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 women’s basketball tournament with a 77-63 victory over No. 9 seed Saint Louis on Friday.

Jonquel Jones scored 14 points and had 15 rebounds for her 18th double-double of the season for the Colonials (27-3). Hannah Schaible also scored 14 points and Lauren Chase had 12 points.

Jamesia Price scored 20 points for the Billikens (15-16), with Jackie Kemph adding 17 points and Sadie Stipanovich adding 10.

George Washington never trailed and took its first double-digit lead early in the second half. The Colonials led by 19 points with 9:42 to go when the Billikens made a run, closing to 70-63 with 1:22 remaining before the Colonials scored the game’s final seven points.

Saint Louis handed George Washington its only defeat during the A10 season, winning at home, 79-61, on Feb. 11.

George Washington will play either Richmond or Fordham in the semifinals on Saturday.
