JUPITER, Fla. — Washington Nationals closer Drew Storen left Monday’s 6-2 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals in the sixth inning after aggravating a blister on his right big toe.
Manager Matt Williams said Storen has had the blister, and it did not bother him during his last appearance.
“We’ll re-evalute him tomorrow, but no need to push it at this point,” Williams said. “His pitch count was up there anyways, so we decided to go get him.”
Storen entered the game in the middle of the sixth inning and faced four batters before leaving the mound with a trainer. The right-hander walked the final batter he faced, Cardinals infielder Kolten Wong, on four pitches.
