DENVER — Denver International Airport is turning off several prominent lights for Earth Hour, including the infamous statue titled “Mustang,” a blue horse with blazing red fiery eyes at the entrance to the airport.
This is the third year that DIA has participated in Earth Hour by turning off illuminated signs and the statue.
The airport will first turn the LED sign along eastbound Pena Boulevard green, from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., in a symbolic expression of Denver’s efforts to work toward a greener city and planet. The other lights will be turned off from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in celebration of the worldwide event.
Earth Hour is part of a campaign by environmentalists to highlight the threat of climate change.
