The White House on Friday brushed off assertions that President Obama is a lame duck, saying Republicans constantly are reacting to the president’s moves.
“We have been driving the agenda in this town. Everything we see from congressional Republicans largely is a response,” White House press secretary Josh Earnest told reporters. “That speaks to the power still being wielded by this president.”
Mr. Earnest was responding to questions about whether Mr. Obama and Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, both of whom will be out of office in less than two years, can continue to be effective leaders for the party.
Mr. Reid, Nevada Democrat, announced Friday he won’t run for another term in 2016.
