Sports Commentator Bob Costas on Friday night blasted the Obama administration for being too politically correct and said liberals need to “call this [expletive] out.”

Mr. Costas made the remark in an interview with Bill Maher during his late-night HBO talk show “Real Time.” Mr. Maher asked Mr. Costa if he thought politically correct culture is “kind of out of hand,” citing President Obama’s reluctance to use the term “Islamic extremism,” Mediaite reported Friday.

“You need people on the left to call this [expletive] out,” Mr. Costas responded, adding “Just as you need people on the right to call conservative [expletive] out.”

Mr. Costas went on to condemn partisan cable media outlets for their selective news coverage saying “Why can’t people with common sense hold two truths in their head at the same time?”

During the interview Mr. Costas defended his Sunday Night Football commentary about American gun culture, telling Mr. Maher that Americans should have limits on what kids of weapons they can buy, like “cop-killer armor piercing bullets” or bazookas or tanks.
