MINNEAPOLIS — A week after massive layoffs at its Minneapolis headquarters, Target Corp. has laid off members of its human resources team whose departures were delayed because they were needed to help implement the job cuts.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports (https://bit.ly/1BaNrkB) that the 40 layoffs Thursday were among the 1,700 job cuts announced last week.

The newspaper also reports that a filing with the state Department of Employment and Economic Development shows that the largest single category of employees affected by the layoffs was more than 200 managers.

All of Target’s laid-off workers, including the HR employees, are eligible for a package of 15 weeks of pay, plus additional severance based on seniority. Target says it will also pay the employer portion of benefit coverage for the next six months.
