A Wisconsin police officer shot and killed a suspect on his first day back from administrative leave for a previous shooting.

Kenosha Police Officer Pablo Torres killed 26-year-old Aaron Siler Saturday after the suspect led police on a car chase and ultimately crashed his vehicle. Mr. Siler, 26, was wanted on an active felony probation and parole warrant. The suspect allegedly armed himself before Officer Torres fired his weapon, a local Fox affiliate reported Thursday.

Officer Torres had just returned to duty after a March 4 incident in which he shot a knife-wielding man allegedly attempting to slash officers in his garage.

When police were called to stop Terry Knight, 66, from committing suicide, he allegedly lunged towards the responding officers. Officer Torres then fired a single shot, which struck Mr. Knight in the chest. The wounded man was treated by paramedics.

Mr. Knight faces a felony charge of second degree recklessly endangering safety and use of a dangerous weapon, the station reported.

Kenosha police told the Fox affiliate that department policy is to put officers on two-day leave after a shooting.
