President Obama called the House Republicans budget a failure Tuesday and said it would spur a “major debate” with his administration over the coming months.
“It’s not a budget that reflects the future,” Mr. Obama told reporters in the Oval Office during a meeting with the prime minister of Ireland. “It’s not a budget that reflects growth. We’re going to have a robust debate.”
The president said he was “hoping for a little luck of the Irish” with the the GOP budget proposal for fiscal 2016 being introduced on St. Patrick’s Day.
“Unfortunately, what we’re seeing is a failure” on infrastructure, education and other of the administration’s spending priorities, he said.
