Contrary to the objections of the White House and President Obama’s spokespersons, congressional leaders had every right to make clear in a letter to the Iranian leaders what the difference is between an executive order/agreement and a treaty ratified by Congress and signed by the president. Congressional leaders would not have executed their prerogative in alerting the leaders of Iran as to the difference had they deemed the agreement being negotiated not in the best interest of our nation.

Contrary to Mr. Obama using his executive orders to ram through legislation, there are three equal branches of our government, each having constitutional rights. Congress not only had the need but the duty to inform Iranian leaders of the role of Congress in ratifying binding treaties. Executive orders are not sufficient for conducting foreign affairs threatening to our nation.
