Sen. Tom Cotton made a very trenchant point on Sunday in response to the endless criticism Team Obama and its friends in Iran – and elsewhere – have been heaping on him and 46 other senators.
They are accused of acting in an unprecedented and unconstitutional way in pointing out the obvious to the rabidly hostile Iranian mullahocracy: If President Obama fails to secure congressional approval of the nuclear deal he is desperately seeking, the U.S. will not be legally bound by it.
Mr. Cotton, Arkansas Republican, observed that the president should be using that warning as leverage to get a better agreement – instead of encouraging Iran to expect more concessions by castigating its authors.
Far from ensuring peace, the disastrous accord now being finalized all-but-guarantees a new and devastating war. Don’t go there.
