President Obama sat down with comedian Jimmy Kimmel on Thursday and took part in his famous “Mean Tweets” segment.

With R.E.M.’s “Everybody’s Hurts” playing in the background, Mr. Obama started reading some of the criticism that comes his way via Twitter.

“Obama’s hair is looking grayer this days. I can’t imagine way since he doesn’t seem to be one bit worried about all that is going on,” a woman named Carol tweeted.

“Is there any way we could fly Obama to some golf course halfway around the world and just leave him there?” a user who goes by RWSurferGirl said. Mr. Obama quipped that it was a “great idea.”

Another users said that Americans could get the president’s eyes to light up by shining a flashlight in his years. Mr. Obama said “that’s pretty good” in response.

During his “Jimmy Kimmel Live” interview, Mr. Obama took on a much more serious tone. He discussed the police department in Ferguson, Missouri, and the recent shooting of two officers by an unknown assailant.

“What had been happening in Ferguson was oppressive and objectionable and was worthy of protest. … But there was no excuse for criminal acts,” the president told Mr. Kimmel.
