Washington Redskins wide receiver Jamison Crowder was escorted off the practice field by an organization representative and did not speak to the media Tuesday after practice. Crowder was accused last week of domestic violence by a woman who posted pictures on his Instagram account, followed by a note that said Crowder had inflicted the bruises and swollen lip in the photos as well as verbally abused the woman.
“I really don’t want to make a comment,” Redskins coach Jay Gruden said. “We’re aware of it. The NFL is aware of it. We’re just going to go from there.”
The Redskins and the NFL both previously said that they were looking into the matter. Monday, the NFL said there was no update on Crowder’s situation. The fourth-round draft pick was a full participant in Tuesday’s practice.
The 5-foot-8, 185-pound Crowder is expected to be a valuable contributor for the Redskins as both a slot receiver and a punt returner.
He was a first-team all-ACC wide receiver and punt returner following his junior and senior years and finished second in team history in receiving yards, punt return yards and all-purpose yards and was third in total touchdowns.
Following high-profile incidents last season involving former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice, Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson and Dallas Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy — then with the Carolina Panthers — the NFL revised its personal conduct policy in December.
The league will now enforce “a baseline suspension of six games without pay for violations involving assault, battery, domestic violence, dating violence, child abuse, other forms of family violence, or sexual assault, with consideration given to possible mitigating or aggravating circumstances,” according to a press release issued by the league at the time of its adoption.
No Jackson Again
Wide receiver DeSean Jackson missed Tuesday’s voluntary practice because of what the team called “personal reasons.” Jackson missed the first OTA that was open to reporters, then showed up last week.
At that time, he said he was a veteran who knows the offense and did not appeared to be concerned about missing snaps with his teammates. Offensive coordinator Sean McVay said ideally Jackson would be in attendance, but that they know who he is during the season and on game day.

Linebacker Ryan Kerrigan (knee), left tackle Trent Williams (ankle), tight end Jordan Reed (knee) and cornerback DeAngelo Hall (Achilles’ heel) all remain out until training camp. The Redskins are hoping each is fully healed by the time they go to Richmond at the end of July. The Redskins signed free agent tackle Bryce Quigley following a post-practice workout. Quigley had been previously waived by the Detroit Lions and San Diego Chargers after entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2014. The Redskins waived quarterback Hutson Mason.
