Stephen Curry scored 26 points and Klay Thompson added 21 to lead the Golden State Warriors to a 108-100 overtime victory over the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.

The teams ended the third quarter and regulation tied, but the Warriors held the Cavaliers scoreless until the final seconds of the extra session as they pulled away.

LeBron James scored 44 points to lead the Cavaliers, but missed a potential game-winning jump shot in the final seconds of regulation. His 38 field goal attempts set a new playoff career-high.

Cleveland’s Kyrie Irving, who has struggled with knee and ankle injuries during the playoffs, limped to the locker room during the overtime period after scoring 23 points.

Golden State will host Game 2 on Sunday at 8 p.m. EST.
