Activist Pam Geller was asked Wednesday by a CNN host if she relishes getting death threats by Islamic radicals after it was revealed that two Boston men were allegedly planning to kill her.
Officials said Wednesday that Usaama Rahim, 26, who was shot and killed by FBI agents earlier in the week, said he “couldn’t wait” to kill Ms. Geller. He allegedly hatched a plan with friend David Wright to behead a cop when he became impatient. Mr. Wright was taken into police custody Tuesday night.
“The Southern Poverty Law Center, as you’re well aware, has described your group, the American Freedom Defense Initiative, as what they say is ’an active anti-Muslim group.’ […] Nothing justifies a beheading or a beheading plot, but it’s important to note this. Are you stoking the flames? Do you on some level relish being the target of these attacks?” CNN host Erin Burnett asked Ms. Geller, The Blaze reported Wednesday.
Ms. Geller’s “Draw the Prophet” contest was targeted by Islamic radicals in Garland, Texas, on May 3. Elton Simpson, 31, and Nadir Soofi, 34, died in a shootout with security while the contest was in progress.
“Who self-promotes to get killed? That’s the first thing. The second thing is, the Southern Poverty Law Center. Really, Erin? Since when? Who designated them the arbiter of anything? They’re an uber-left group. They don’t track jihadist groups. They don’t track groups that actually target for slaughter. They track patriots,” the activist replied.
The CNN host closed out the segment by saying that her question was fair.
