Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker are sitting atop a new survey on the 2016 Republican presidential contest, with retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson close behind.
Mr. Bush and Mr. Walker were at 12 percent apiece in the Fox News poll and Mr. Carson was at 11 percent.
Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky was next at 9 percent, followed by Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas at 8 percent, Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida at 7 percent, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee at 6 percent and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie at 5 percent.
Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry and businessman Donald Trump were in a tie for 10th at 4 percent apiece. Candidates must be in the top 10 in an average of recent public polling to participate in the first Republican debate in August.
Mr. Rubio and Mr. Paul were leading the way in terms of GOP voters’ second choice to be the nominee at 11 percent apiece.
More than half of GOP voters — 59 percent — said they would never vote for Mr. Trump, who was followed in that category by Mr. Christie at 37 percent, Mr. Bush and Mr. Huckabee at 24 percent apiece, and Mr. Paul at 20 percent.
The survey of 1,006 registered voters was taken from May 31 to June 2 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points, with a margin of error of plus or minus 5 percentage points for the subgroup of Republican primary voters.
