Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal is scheduled to announce on June 24 in New Orleans whether or not he’s running for president in 2016.

“If I decide to announce on June 24th that I will seek the Republican nomination for president, my candidacy will be based on the idea that the American people are ready to try a dramatically different direction,” Mr. Jindal said in a statement released by his exploratory committee. “We don’t need just small changes, we need a dramatically different path.”

Mr. Jindal is running near the back of the pack in early public polling on the 2016 GOP field but could work to build appeal among the social conservatives and evangelical Christians who comprise a good portion of caucus-goers in Iowa, where the nominating process kicks off.
