The Supreme Court’s historic ruling Friday on gay marriage sparked a tidal wave of comments on social media with brands such as Southwest Airlines, Visa and YouTube jumping in on the discussion.

YouTube tweeted a video compilation of people who had used the streaming service to publicly come out and added the caption, “The United States took a step in the right direction today,” which garnered over 21,000 favorites and nearly 16,000 retweets.

Visa tweeted a photo with the caption “Love. Accepted everywhere,” a play on the banking company’s widely recognized slogan.

Major retailers like Target and Gap also joined in with their own brand-related, rainbow-plastered photos.

“Here’s to having, holding and marrying who you love. #takepride #SCOTUSMarriage,” Target tweeted.

“Equality is always in style. We’ve been proud supporters since #1969,” popular clothing retailer Gap tweeted.

Companies like At&T and Expedia changed their logos to rainbows, and The Weather Channel forecasted “lots of #love.”   

Several airlines also sent out their own celebratory tweets and images.

“Love is in the Air,” a tweet from JetBlue Airways reads, and Southwest Airlines tweeted “#SouthwestHeart beats for Love.”

American Airlines tweeted “We are on board” under a photo of an airplane cabin with dozens of TV monitors displaying rainbows. “Diversity strengthens us all & today we celebrate #Marriage Equality & the landmark #SCOTUS decision.”

Several corporate executives also tweeted their approval of the ruling, including Apple CEO Tim Cook, who is gay. He tweeted, “The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.”

Even Twitter changed its avatar, swapping out the standard blue backdrop typically shown behind the social media brand’s bird logo, to a festive rainbow.
