Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson says he’s fine with potentially sharing a debate stage with fellow GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump.

“I welcome Donald Trump,” Mr. Carson said Wednesday on CNN’s “New Day” when asked about the real estate mogul. “He’s obviously a man of significant accomplishment, and we have a process whereby a lot of different individuals will have an opportunity to place forth their vision of what America should be, and we can analyze that vision with respect to what they have done in their lives and make a decision — that’s the beauty of the American political system.”

Asked if he was surprised that Mr. Trump is in second place in a new poll on the GOP field in New Hampshire and what message it sent to him and the other candidates, Mr. Carson said that “the numbers are going to jump around.”

“I’m happy for him. It’s good,” he said. “It’s a good, healthy process, and I’m glad we’re going to be able to hear lots of different voices.”
