OPINION:
The Supreme Court will soon rule on marriage. The April hearing brought many questions. Justice Kennedy wondered how the plaintiffs could “know better” than millennia of traditional marriage. Justice Alito mentioned past cultures, such as the ancient Greeks, who accepted homosexuality without redefining marriage. Justice Alito questioned whether redefining marriage would allow polygamous couples to marry. Justice Roberts said, “My question is you’re not seeking to join the institution, you’re seeking to change what the institution is.”
Same-sex-marriage proponents say the practice is all ’about love’ and won’t affect others. However, faith-based adoption agencies have been forced to close and wedding vendors are being bullied, threatened and fined for not catering to same-sex couples. Citizens are being fired for supporting biblical, natural marriage. How can anyone say this is about love and doesn’t affect others?
If the Supreme Court redefines marriage, there will be serious consequences. Where will the redefinition of marriage end? What will happen to those who cannot compromise their religious convictions? Will speech be silenced? What about parental rights and indoctrination of children? When a nation dishonors God’s word and His wisdom there will be problems.
