Available for free: ’My Story’ by Sen. Lindsey Graham, a 126-page autobiography released online by his presidential campaign. The e-book reveals that the GOP hopeful had a challenging, modest childhood in South Carolina, served his country, was a U.S. Air Force JAG, won public offices.
“Everyone has a story. Not everyone has to tell it, of course, and most people have the good sense not to. But if you’re in my line of work, and the time arrives when you start imagining a big promotion, and you let your imagination get the better of you, you are by custom expected to give a general account of your life,” the lawmaker writes.
“The thought is that somewhere in the story of your early life, your people and place, your achievements and setbacks, hides the key to understanding how you acquired such a notion in the first place,” Mr. Graham observes.
The book adds a helpful dimension to the candidate’s profile, though early media accounts are already emphasizing the fact that his parents ran a bar and pool hall called the Sanitary Cafe and that the lawmaker had two girlfriends at one point.
