A no-fly zone will be enforced over Roosevelt Island in New York on Saturday as former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton kicks off her 2016 campaign.
The Federal Aviation Administration declared a “national defense airspace,” which includes part of the East Side, at the request of Mrs. Clinton’s campaign, The New York Post reported Saturday.
A source told The Post that Mrs. Clinton’s camp did not want news helicopters flying over the event. The reason for the restriction was listed as “VIP movement.”
The airspace will be restricted from 3 to 5:30 p.m., the Post reported.
Pilots who don’t obey the no-fly zone rules will be intercepted and the government may use “deadly force” against aircraft that pose an imminent threat, an FAA notice to airmen said.
