Police on Tuesday raided the home of Jared Fogle, the longtime spokesperson for the Subway sandwich shop chain, as part of an apparent child pornography probe.
Authorities with federal and state agencies arrived at the Zionsville, Indiana residence of Fogle at around 6:30 a.m., according to local media, and were seen taking electronics into a mobile forensics van parked outside. He had been detained but not formally arrested.
Fogle, 37, has served as the public face of Subway since the late 90s when he began appearing in commercials for the eatery after losing 245 lbs in a year due in part to his sandwich-centric diet. He founded the Jared Foundation to combat childhood obesity in 2004, but that organization was rocked earlier this year when its executive director, Russell Taylor, was arrested on child porn charges.
Zionville is a town of around 14,000 located northwest of Indianapolis. The Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children task force, an affiliate of the FBI, is leading the Fogel investigation.
