Al Cardenas, a close ally and fundraiser for former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush hinted Tuesday that the 2016 GOP hopeful’s campaign fundraising totals will surpass those of top earners Hillary Rodham Clinton and Ted Cruz.
“I believe that the numbers reported by both Ted Cruz and Hillary Clinton are the highest numbers that will appear other than Jeb Bush’s and by the time Jeb Bush announces he will certainly have amassed a significant number,” Mr. Cardenas said, adding “He’s proud of the support he’s received.”
On Wednesday Mrs. Clinton’s campaign announced that the former secretary of state raked in $45 million in donations for her presidential campaign, more than any party’s nominee has ever earned in the first three months of an election cycle.
Mr. Cruz’s camp also revealed his earnings last week ahead of the campaign reporting deadline. Mr. Cruz’s campaign touted $10 million in the second quarter of the fiscal year while super PACs associated with the Texas senator brought in $37 million, according to multiple news reports.
But according to Mr. Cardenas both of those numbers will pale in comparison to Mr. Bush’s donations, which members of his camp said would be announced within the next week.
“It will be the highest number total,” he said.

Candidates have until July 15 to report their earnings through June 30 to the Federal Election Commission.
