Famous rocker and hunter Ted Nugent took to social media to blast “lying punk” Jimmy Kimmel and others over the Cecil the lion story.

After a Facebook follower asked why the late-night talk show host was a “lying punk,” Mr. Nugent rattled off a list of alleged inaccuracies surrounding Minnesota dentist Walter Palmer’s infamous hunting trip to Africa.

“Not a crossbow, not helpless animal, not illegal or unethical to lure/bait from park as all cat hunters do (26 percent success rate), had license and permits, hired professional gvt guides,” Mr. Nugent wrote, The Blaze reported Thursday. “Jimmy believes in killing animals for his use.

Mr. Palmer issued an apology on Tuesday for his actions while on a recent hunting trip outside Zimbabwe’s Hwange National Park. He allegedly paid over $50,000 to local guides so he could shoot the lion with a bow and arrow. The area was not approved for hunting.

“I had no idea that the lion I took was a known, local favorite, was collared and part of a study until the end of the hunt. I deeply regret that my pursuit of an activity I love and practice responsibly and legally resulted in the taking of this lion,” he said in a statement, The Associated Press reported.

Mr. Nugent did not seem to feel as though an apology was necessary.

“It was a wild lion from a ’park’ where hunting is legal and ESSENTIAL beyond the park borders. All animals reproduce every year & would run out of room/food to live w/o hunting. I will write a full piece on this joke asap. God are people stupid,” Mr. Nugent said, The Blaze reported.
