A U.S. Air Force base in the U.K. has nixed its Fourth of July plans due to concerns of a possible terror attack.

Royal Air Force Lakenheath and nearby RAF Mildenhall in Suffolk, England, will both forgo their annual festivities “due to the most current, local threat assessments,” NBC News reported Friday.

The 48th Fighter Wing is assigned to RAF Lakenheath.

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the 2015 4th of July Celebration, set to be held at RAF Feltwell, is cancelled,” the air base said via its social media accounts. “The decision was made due to the most current, local threat assessments. We make every effort to ensure the safety of our Airmen, their families and our U.K. partners and must make difficult decisions like this when lives are on the line. Both the main event on Saturday, July 4th, as well as the preview party scheduled for Friday, July 3rd, are cancelled.”

NBC National Correspondent Peter Alexander said there are no specific threats for inside the U.S. at this time, but added “the dangers now are more complex and unpredictable than ever.”
