The Texas Rangers acquired Philadelphia Phillies ace Cole Hamels on Wednesday night.

In exchange, the Phillies will receive left-hander Matt Harrison and prospects Jorge Alfaro, Nick Williams, Jake Thompson, Alec Asher and Jerad Eickhoff. The Rangers will also get left-handed pitcher Jake Diekman in the trade, as well as cash considerations.

The deal was reported in a Tweet by T.R. Sullivan, who covers the Rangers for MLB.com.

Alfaro, a catcher, was ranked by Baseball America as the No. 3 prospect in the Rangers system entering the 2015 season. Williams, an outfielder, was ranked as the team’s No. 5 prospect. Thompson, a right-handed pitcher, rated No. 2 on the list.

Hamels threw a no-hitter against the Cubs on Saturday in his last start for the Phillies.

Entering play on Wednesday, the Rangers were 47-52, in third place in the American League West, and four and a half games out of the second wild-card spot.
