The Washington Nationals are putting the band back together.
Outfielder Jayson Werth and first baseman Ryan Zimmerman were activated from the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday and were in the lineup for the team’s road game against the Miami Marlins.
Third baseman Anthony Rendon rejoined the Nationals over the weekend, leaving center fielder Denard Span and starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg as the two key players still recovering from injury.
Werth returns after missing 61 games because a broken left wrist, which occurred when was struck by a pitch in a game against the San Diego Padres on May 15. He hit .333 in 12 minor league games, six for Single-A Potomac and six for Triple-A Syracuse, during his rehabilitation.
Zimmerman played just 56 games this season before he was placed on the disabled list June 11 because of plantar fasciitis in his left foot. He played in five minor league rehab games for Double-A Harrisburg and went 1-for-15.
Werth was hitting third on Tuesday, while Zimmerman hit fifth. Michael A. Taylor was moved from the leadoff spot to eighth, while Rendon was atop the order and Bryce Harper was hitting cleanup.
